about

Tristan Burfield-Trials of Orpheus (2004-2005) LP out now on Bandcamp:
In 2005, I re-scored Jean Cocteau's silent allegoric film Blood of a Poet (1930) substituting George Auric's traditional score with an original epic electronic score of my own devising (that provided a suitably surreal dream like ambience). The film project represented the culmination of my Bristol recordings and performances, and was premiered at Bristol Ashton Court Festival in 2005. This release comprises of previously unreleased Demo's and trial runs/alternative takes from the Blood of A Poet project, alongside early rehearsals for the tetralogy of Bristol live loop concerts previously released as Live Loop Vol. 1 (Arc Bar + Cube Cinema + Joint Social Club), in addition to previously unreleased tracks from Shadow Pictures film project which premiered at il Bordello, 2005. All tracks were recorded between 2004-2005 at my former Easton studio in Greenbank, Bristol. The front cover is a collage of Cocteau illustrations from Les Enfantes Terribles, the snowball seen pictured re-occurred frequently in his work, and became a central motif in Blood of a Poet (1930). The title of the work is a sly reference to the Orpheus myth which inspired Cocteau's cinematic vision.

about

Tristan Burfield Norwich, UK

Tristan Burfield has been described by a new band a day as a modern day electro "polymath". His music often incorporates lo- fi elements such as videogames, toys, junk, glitches and noise.

Tristan's stubbornly retro approach (which has seen him brandish Gameboy's, Nes Consoles and Commodore 64 sound chips as soundsources) often embraces limitations as a means of creative inspiration.
